CamShaft Assembly
The camshaft assembly is the mechanical brain of the engine, responsible for controlling the precise timing and sequence of the valve openings. It consists of a long rotating shaft outfitted with several egg-shaped lobes, known as cams, which push against the valves (or intermediate components like rocker arms and lifters) as the shaft spins. This assembly is synchronized with the crankshaft via a timing belt, chain, or gears, ensuring that the valves open and close in perfect harmony with the position of the pistons.
